How would you feel leaving your home country to create a new
life in the United States, to be imprisoned in an immigration incarceration
federal prison? It has been reported that there have been over fifty incidents
of alleged sexual assaults in these prisons, not including incidents that went
unreported. It seems as though this issue has been pushed aside but in reality,
immigration detention facilities is the fastest-growing incarceration system in
America. For people that have only committed the crime of “illegally” trying to
make a new life for themselves, there should be pristine conditions for these
people and they should not have the fear of being sexually violated.
